Edinburgh Zoo is owned by The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS). The Society was founded in March 1909, and the Zoo opened in July 1913.
Set in 82 acres of sloping parkland, the Zoo is situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh city centre.Edinburgh Zoo is one of Europe's leading centres of conservation, education and research. We work collectively with many other zoos and conservation agencies in the UK, Europe and around the world in co-ordinated conservation programmes, to help ensure the survival of many threatened animal species. We support various conservation projects in the wild through funding and expertise.
The catering and hospitality at Edinburgh Zoo is provided by Compass Group, who specialise in providing conference and banqueting, hospitality and food services to cultural, arts and exhibition locations throughout the country.

Edinburgh Zoo, located on Corstorphine Road, is highly accessible by public transport with high frequency bus services from Edinburgh city centre.

48/X48 Ingliston Park & Ride All services, apart from the 100 – Airlink, can be found to depart from stops on Princes Street. The 100 – Airlink will depart from Waverley Bridge and will next stop in Shandwick Place.
By Train There are two trains stations in the centre of Edinburgh; Edinburgh Waverley Station and Edinburgh Haymarket Station. From Waverley and Haymarket stations, take the buses listed above (From Edinburgh City Centre) to Edinburgh Zoo.
